Building Godly Homes - Part I

Proverbs 9:1 "Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:"

Proverbs 24:3 "Though Wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:"

In the perilous times of 2006, we Christians need to get back to the "Old Paths" of using God's blueprints and materials for building godly homes.  Somewhere in the fast paced world we live in we Christians have stopped using the Word of God as our final authority in faith and practice, and have chosen convenient and smooth sound alternatives to God's directions.

Let me give you Seven Pillars that are necessary to build a godly Home.

  1. The Word of God (A.V. 1611) - Folks 'say' they believe the Bible, but they don't read it, study it, and don't have family devotions with.  The Bible brings Convictions, Separation, Sanctification, Salvation!  Titus 2:12 & Deut. 17:16-20.
  2. The Church - I Tim. 2:15 - We Christians Need a good strong, separated, Bible believing Local Church.  A Good Church is a Preaching Place, Praying Place, Peaceful Place, Powerful Place.  A Good Church re-enforces and confirms what good parents are trying to do at home.
  3. A Godly Wife a Mother - Prov. 31:10-31 - God help us to have women who's hearts desire is to be a godly wife and mother.  God gives us Mother's like Hannah who'll raise a Samuel who turn a nation back to God.
  4. A Godly Husband and Father - Eph. 5:25-29; Prov. 20:6 - We don't need Worldly Fathers like Lot, or Carnal Fathers like Jacob, but Holy Spirit filled Husbands & Fathers like Zacharias who'll raise a John the Baptist who'll herald the Gospel of Our Lord & Saviour!
  5. Bible Discipline - Prov. 13:24; 29:15 - I know this is not Politically Correct but it's absolutely necessary in God's Plan.
  6. Bible Instruction and Training - Prov 22:6, Eph. 6:4 - We need less entertainment and pleasure seeking and more Godly Fellowship and Service for the Lord as a Family.
  7. Home filled with Love and Fellowship - Rom 14:17 "...Righteousness, Peace, Joy in the Holy Ghost." - Our Homes should be filled with the Peace & Presence of God.  A Home where Parents and children are "best friends" and everyone likes to be there!

The Lord God help us in these days to get back to the "Old Paths" of God's Plan for building Godly Homes.
