God's Word and His Law are Holy - Part I

Romans 7:12, Leviticus 11:44-45

Lev 11:44-45 - "For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy."

Our God is Holy and He commands His children to be Holy.  Holiness is not just an attribute of God's, but His very essence is Holiness.  In Numbers 15 a man is stoned to death for violating the Sabbath by picking up sticks.  In Leviticus 24 a young man is stoned to death for cursing and blaspheming the name of the LORD.  Exodus 20 and Leviticus 20 tells us that the adulterer and adulteress were to be stoned to death.  How many people does God have to put to death before we realize God despises sin because He is Holy?

II Cor. 7:1 - "Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."

I Peter 3:14 - "As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:" (The Condition of Holiness is Obedience to the Word of God!)

I Peter 3:15 - "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;" (Our Pattern of Holiness is Our Lord and the Filed of Holiness is All Manner of our Life.)

The Bible is very clear that "Born-Again" children of God should live Holy Lives.  Surly we can understand the simple command in Romans 12:2; "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."  The only thing that will transform our minds is the Holy Bible.  But the sad truth is most saved people today are transformed by dirty T.V., filthy DVD movies, worldly pleasures and amusements, carnal books and magazines, and a poor choice of friends.  Just check out their fashions, speech, priorities and friends.  I doubt the "Great Woman" of II Kings 4 had dyed hair, a painted face or immodest clothing on.  No do I believe David's mighty men were running around in cute shorts with jewelry on trying to get in touch with their feminine side!

This World has had more of a defiling effect on the Saved than the Saved have had on the World.  The Salt has lost it's Savor.  We're Not Holy.
