Sodomite Christianity
II Peter 2:7-8
II
Peter 2:7,8 tells us the Old Testament man named Lot was a saved man.
Lot is called "that righteous man" in verse 8. We know the
Bible is perfect, so there's no argument about Lot's salvation.
I'm just hoping I don't live close by him in the New Jerusalem.
Proverbs 14:34 says "... but is a reproach to any people.
"Lot's sin, and his testing of seeking to turn his tow virgin
daughters over to a a violent mob of perverted sodomites makes me
ill. How does a "saved man" live in such a city. Sodom,
with such a people, perverted sodomites, and live a victorious life
in Christ? Obviously, Lot didn't. Yet, he was a saved
man.
Lot's story tells us he chose to leave godly Abraham and
chose the well watered plain and then ended up in the gate of
Sodom. Great Choices! Must have be "by faith."
Surely he was wiser and more spiritual than that old man Abraham.
Seems like there are a lot of "Lot's" in the last days we're
living in. Choosing the World, vexing their souls, and living
a carnal life.
A good Texas preacher calls it "Sodomite Christianity."
Pretty rough language, but there's many "Christians" living pretty
"low" lives, worldly, carnal and having lost any sense of sin being
a reproach.
Those with "Sodomite Christianity" have Lot's characteristics.
- They are Stimulated by what they see (I John 2:15-16).
The things of this world moved Lot's heart. He was Not
moved by the Will of God but by his own lust and his own
perceived wisdom. Many Today ignored the scriptures and
follow their own lusts and carnal pleasures. "Sodomite
Christianity"
- They are seared by what they listen to (II Peter 2:8).
"Lot vexed his righteous soul from day to day ..." When
God's people immerse themselves in the world watching T.V., DVD
movies, worldly music and books, with little if any Bible
reading, they sear their conscience. I Timothy 4:1,2 is an
accurate description of what is taking place today many "so
called" Christian lives. "Sodomite Christianity" doesn't
condemn sin as the Bible does.
- Those living a "Sodomite Christianity" are spiritual laughed
at Genesis 19:14. Lot had a "Wonderful" Testimony with his
own family. They laughed at him just before they are
damned to hell. Seems like a high price to pay for worldly
pleasure.
Doesn't seem like God is much impressed with this "Sodomite
Christianity." Genesis 19:24 reveals God's judgment on Sodom
and verses 30-38 tell us of Lot's incest and bastard children, Moab
and Ammon, Israel's enemies to this day. And that is how Lot
goes off the pages of Scripture. "Well done ...", I don't
believe Lot gets to hear such a great commendation.
How about us, today in 2009, in the U.S.A? Is sin a
reproach to us as we walk with the Saviour, or are we immersed in
this World, living a Sodomite Christianity?
