Problems Today's Kids Face - Part II

Today I’m going to look at a second obstacle I believe our children faced today in America.

2. Hollywood- more specifically, our TV and movie industry.

A great man of God (Lester Roloff) once prophesied in the 1950's that NBC, ABC, and CBS would be the ruination of the morals of America.  Looking back today in 2006, we can see how right he was! If we could, for a moment, compare the 1950's to 2006, I believe we could see the facts.  In the 1950's, Adultery and fornication were taboo, which means having children before marriage was not common; two unmarried people living together was a shame; most mothers were stay at home moms; homosexuality was almost unheard of; abortion was illegal and appalling to think of; children were well behaved, polite, and had a good work ethic; those in authority were well respected, obeyed, and honored; Bible reading and prayer were regular exercises in school, as was discipline of students; men dressed like men, and woman dressed modest and like woman, it was not hard to tell apart the sexes; divorce was almost unheard of, and the majority of families went to church every Sunday, which was still known as the Lord’s day, and just about everyplace was closed. That was then.

Today in 2006, Adultery and fornication are so common that if you stay a virgin till marriage, or if you don’t whore around on your mate, you’re in the minority; children are being born outside of wedlock at an alarming rate! Now, people shack up as if it is the thing to do; most mothers work full time and leave someone else to raise their children; homosexuality is being pushed today like it never has been, and is accepted as a normal lifestyle (quite opposite of what the Bible teaches); abortion is not only legal, but over 1 million babies a year are murdered a year in America (Thank God my mother didn’t believe in abortion!!); children today are out of control, juvenile homes are overflowing and new ones are being built all the time, our schools are no longer safe, children are getting into trouble at younger ages all the time, they are no longer polite as a whole, and their work ethic is missing; Bible reading and prayer are prevented in most schools; and discipline of students is nonexistent; men dress like woman, woman dress like men, and you can hardly tell the sexes apart today. There is no more modesty in America anymore; divorce is common in over half of all marriages today, and the majority of families or individuals rarely if ever go to church on Sunday, and it is hard to find anything closed on the Lord’s day anymore. Getting back to my point of Hollywood being an obstacle children today face, my reason for saying that is that in the last fifty years look at what Hollywood has endorsed, promoted, and pushed in our society. All the bad I’ve mentioned is endorsed AND promoted by Hollywood. That is truly a shame! Since children spend so much time watching TV, it has had a negative influence on them. Hollywood doesn’t promote God, the Bible, or Biblical principles. Hollywood, like our public education system, for the most part is run by liberals who don’t fear or reverence God.
